Linda is a grandmother of two grandchildren, mother of two children, has a heart for God and a heart for children and missions. She is an attorney, former circuit judge, award-winning speaker and the best selling author of An Illusion of Normal, a memoir about her childhood growing up in a home tortured by mental illness, and Divorce Made Simple, a best selling self-help book on how to avoid the pitfalls of divorce from both an attorney’s and a judge’s perspective.
She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting/Political Science, obtained her Juris Doctor from Stetson Law School where she was on the Stetson Law Review. She struck out on her own in 1989, opening her solo practice, Linda D. Schoonover, P.A. where she practiced in the areas of family, employment, probate, and appellate law for over 20 years. In 2010 she was elected to the circuit court in the 18th Judicial Circuit. During this time she served on the family, probate, juvenile, and dependency benches.
She has been active in her community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Sharing Center, Speaker for Leadership Seminole, Board of Directors for the Central Florida Christian Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors for Seminole County Cultural Arts Council, Board of Directors for the Seminole County Bar Association, Board of Directors for the Seminole County Legal Aid, President of Lake Mary Toastmasters and a member of Seminole South and Lake Mary Rotary Clubs.
